# Accounting reports automations

What the accounting reports do by themselves: one scheduled action shipped switched off and empty, no e-mail and no automation rule, and the currency columns that follow the number of active currencies.

The accounting reports work when someone opens them. A report computes its figures when it loads, when an option of the panel changes and when **Refresh** is clicked; an export is built when its format is clicked. Nothing here sends e-mail to clients, vendors or users, and the app adds no automation rule and no e-mail template.

## Scheduled action {#scheduled-action}

### Account Returns: Generate/Refresh {#generate-returns}

- **When:** never, as shipped. The scheduled action is installed switched off, with a daily interval; it would run once a day only if someone activated it.
- **What it does:** nothing. Its name speaks of creating or refreshing the account returns, but its code is an empty placeholder: activated, it would run and change nothing.
- **How to stop it:** it is already stopped. Leave it switched off in the scheduled actions of the technical menu; there is no reason to activate it in this version.

## Behaviour that follows the data {#follows-the-data}

### Currency columns {#currency-columns}

- **When:** each time a report loads or is exported.
- **What it does:** counts the active currencies of the whole database. With one, the foreign amount columns (**Amount Currency**, **Currency** and the balances of **Unrealized Currency Gains/Losses**) are left out of every report and every export file. With two or more, in any company, they appear in every report that has them.
- **How to stop it:** the columns follow the currencies; deactivate the currencies you do not use, as [Banks, cash and currencies](/docs/banks-and-cash) explains, or hide a column with the cog of the report until the report reloads.

### Period of the ready choices {#ready-periods}

- **When:** each time a report loads.
- **What it does:** turns a choice of **Date** such as **This Month** or **Previous Quarter** into dates counted from today, so the same choice shows other figures as time passes. Every report opens on **This Year**.
- **How to stop it:** choose **Custom Range** and type the dates; they stay as typed until you change them.

## What never happens on its own {#never}

- No statement, reminder or report is sent: the **Follow-up Report** lists the overdue invoices and stops there.
- No entry is posted by the reports. The only entry this app can post is the revaluation entry, and only when a user clicks **Post Provision Entry**; see [Prepare the tax and period-end figures](prepare-the-tax-and-period-end-figures).
- No figure is stored between two visits: closing and reopening a report computes it again from the journal items.
