# Legal base automations

What the legal base does by itself when a client request arrives, who is given what and by when, and how to stop it, in plain words for the people who run the firm.

The legal base runs no scheduled job. One thing happens by itself, when a client request is created.

## A new client request finds its lawyers {#request-lawyers}

- **When:** as soon as a client request is created, from the portal or by a user.
- **What it does:** when nobody chose a lawyer, it assigns the client's own lawyers, or else the **Default Lawyers** of the legal settings. When nobody set a deadline, it sets one **Default Deadline** days ahead.
- **How to stop it:** leave **Default Lawyers** empty and set **Default Deadline** to 0.

## Each assigned lawyer gets a to-do {#review-to-do}

- **When:** right after the request is created.
- **What it does:** it puts a "Register / Reject Legal Request" to-do in the planner of every assigned lawyer who has a user, due **Review Within** days later.
- **How to stop it:** untick **Register / Reject Client Request Activity** in the [legal settings](legal-settings).
