# Contracts automations

What Contracts does by itself every day and when a contract is signed, who receives which e-mail or to-do, and how to stop each one.

Contracts runs one daily job, and sends one e-mail by itself when a contract is signed. The options are explained in [Contracts settings](contracts-settings).

## Daily job: expiry and reminders {#daily-job}

- **When:** once a day.
- **Expiry:** every **Valid** contract whose **End Date** has passed becomes **Expired**. This always happens and has no option.
- **Reminder:** when **Auto Contract Reminder** is on, every valid contract that ends within **Reminder Days** sends its client the reminder e-mail, once for each end date, and gives the **Activity Assignee** a to-do "Contract expires in N day(s)" when one is set.
- **How to stop the reminder:** untick **Auto Contract Reminder**, or set **Reminder Days** to 0.

## A signed contract announces itself {#activation}

- **When:** as soon as both signatures are recorded and the contract becomes **Valid**.
- **What it does:** when **Send Activation Notice** is on, it e-mails the activation notice to the client, the followers and the extra recipients chosen in the settings.
- **How to stop it:** untick **Send Activation Notice**.
