Cloud accounting software

Cloud accounting software keeps the books of a firm or a business online, in one system. It holds the invoices and payments, the bank lines, the budgets, the fixed assets and the exchange rates, with the reports that check them. In jaah, clients pay invoices online, bank lines are reconciled on one screen, and reports export to Excel, PDF or CSV. Law firms also bill their cases, consultations, enforcement files and contracts straight from the legal work.

For law firms, this accounting is one part of jaah law, the law firm management software.

Invoices and online payments

Pay a draft online

When the firm allows it, a client can pay a draft invoice online, and it is posted and reconciled once paid.

One link, several invoices

Select a client's open invoices and send one payment link that pays them all, with no sign-in.

Card payments with Moyasar

Saudi merchants take mada, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, UnionPay and STC Pay, and can refund part of a payment.

Pay later with Tamara

Clients in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman pay in instalments, next month or at once.

Fixed and total discounts

Take a fixed amount off a line, or give the whole invoice a fixed or percentage discount spread over its lines.

Thermal receipts

Print an invoice as an 80 mm receipt for a counter's thermal printer.

Invoices by WhatsApp

With WhatsApp connected, invoices and payment receipts go to the client as PDFs, straight from the record.

Bank reconciliation

One reconciliation screen

Each bank line sits beside the invoices and payments it can match, and is reconciled on the same screen.

Bulk actions

Give many bank lines the same partner, account or reconciliation rule in one action.

Reconciliation rules

Saved rules propose or post the counterpart of a bank line, right on the screen.

Write-offs and partial matches

Clear items that do not match exactly: post the difference with its tax, or leave part of an item open.

Clear an account at once

Match an account's equal debits and credits in one action.

Reports that check the books

Customer statements

Show a client what they owe and why: the open items on a date, or every movement of the period.

Aged receivables

Trial balance

Each account's opening balance, debits and credits for the period, on one screen.

Tax report

The base and the amount of each tax, sales and purchases apart, for the period you choose.

Budgets

Budget revisions

Revise an open budget and keep the earlier version, with what it planned and when it changed.

A year in one action

Lay out monthly, quarterly or yearly budgets for a whole year, across the firm's cost centres.

What is left

Each budget line shows what was planned, what is spent and what is still available, and flags an overrun.

Binding budgets

With purchasing, a binding budget refuses a purchase order that would exceed it, and names the overshoot.

Fixed assets and deferrals

Asset register

Equipment, vehicles and fit-out, each depreciated straight-line or declining, with its residual value.

Controls and access

Fiscal years

Keep a fiscal year that is not the calendar year, or a shorter or longer first year.

Four access levels

Read-only for every document, invoicing for one's own or for every document, and administrator.

One guided setup: chart of accounts, banks, taxes, currencies, opening balances and the balances of clients and suppliers.

Getting started with accounting

Currencies and exchange rates

Public rate sources

Rates come from the European Central Bank, the Central Bank of the UAE, Frankfurter and ExchangeRate-API.

A fallback order

The sources are asked in the firm's order, and each currency takes its rate from the first one that has it.

A log of every run

Each update is logged with its result and the rates it wrote, and every rate keeps its source.

Currency by currency

Turn automatic rates on for the company, and keep a manual rate for any currency you choose.

Past rates

Fetch the rates of a past date range from the sources that publish them.

Billing from the legal work

Case fees

Invoice a case for its whole fee or hearing by hearing, and the invoice names the case and its lawyers.

Consultation fees

Bill a consultation from the consultation itself, and closing an unbilled one asks whether to bill it first.

Enforcement fees

Create the invoice from the enforcement file, for the file's client, with the enforcement fees product.

Contract instalments

A valid contract's instalments become draft invoices as their dates come, for the billing team to confirm.

Invoiced and unpaid

Each case, consultation, enforcement file and contract shows the total of its invoices and what is still open on them.

Billing badge

On the cases board, each card shows whether its case is not invoiced, unpaid or paid.

Questions about cloud accounting software

What is cloud accounting software?

Software that keeps a business's books online, so invoices, payments, bank lines and reports are reached from a browser, with nothing to install.

Can clients pay invoices online?

Yes, with a connected payment provider: from the invoice's own page, or through one payment link for several invoices. A draft invoice can be paid too, when the firm allows it.

Does jaah connect to my bank?

No. Bank lines are typed in or imported from a spreadsheet file, then reconciled with invoices and payments on one screen.

Can I invoice in other currencies?

Yes. An invoice can be in any active currency, and once the company turns it on, exchange rates arrive by themselves from public sources.

Can my accountant get read-only access?

Yes. The read-only level lets an accountant or an auditor open every accounting document without changing any of them.

Can I start from my opening balances?

Yes. The setup wizard takes the opening balance of each account and the balances of clients and suppliers.
