Courts, circuits and judges are reference lists: recorded once, then picked on every case and hearing. The app comes with a few courts; circuits and judges are optional and appear only when the firm switches them on.

Before you start

  • You need the Manager level on Courts to add courts and circuits, and on Judges to add judges.
  • Judges and Court Circuits must be ticked in Law/Configuration/Settings (block General); otherwise their menus are hidden.

Steps

  1. Open Law/Courts. Open a court to complete its address, phone and email, or click New to add one.

  1. The Circuits tab of a court lists its circuits; Add a line adds one with its name, email and phone, edited in the line itself.
  2. All circuits are also listed in Law/Configuration/Circuits, one line each with its Court; New adds a line there too.
  3. Open Law/Judges and click New. Type the judge's name, and their phone and email if the firm keeps them, then save.

Result

Cases and hearings offer these courts, circuits and judges in their pickers. A circuit always belongs to one court, and the court form lists its circuits.

FAQ

Why is the Circuits menu missing?

Court Circuits is off in the law settings, or you lack the Manager level on Courts. The same applies to Judges with its own setting and level.

Can I delete a court that cases already use?

Archive it instead (Actions › Archive): it leaves the pickers and the cases keep showing it.

Does each branch have its own courts?

When the database holds several companies, a court carries a Branch; leave it empty to share the court with all branches.
