WhatsApp runs eleven scheduled jobs, the engine of How WhatsApp sending works. They are active once the app is installed, except two noted below, and off on a test copy of the database. An administrator stops or starts them in (Developer mode and the technical menus). To stop one kind of message, switch its template off instead.
Sending
WhatsApp: Dispatch Outbox
- When: every minute, and at once when a message is queued.
- What it does: sends the queued messages of each connected line that is not paused or quarantined, one at a time at its lane's pace, at most 20 per line a run.
- How to stop it: stopping it stops all sending; messages wait Queued.
WhatsApp: Scheduled Reminders
- When: once a day, and at the next run time of each template with On Time.
- What it does: sends those templates, one message per record of the Records Filter, up to 500 a run. It is on only while an active template has On Time.
- How to stop it: untick On Time or archive the template.
WhatsApp: Expire Queued Messages
- When: every minute.
- What it does: turns Expired the queued messages past their template's Queue Time-to-Live (min).
- How to stop it: set the template's value to
-1.
WhatsApp: Reclaim Stale Leases, WhatsApp: Reconcile Uncertain
- When: every 5 and every 10 minutes.
- What they do: the first turns Delivery Uncertain a message left Sending by a server stop, and moves a disconnected line's queue to a connected line of the company. The second asks the line about each uncertain message: found, Sent; not found, queued again; after 8 unanswered checks, Dead Letter.
- How to stop them: stop the jobs; uncertain messages then stay so.
Lines
WhatsApp: Check Account Status
- When: every hour.
- What it does: tests each Connected line and marks it Error when the test fails.
- How to stop it: stop the job, or archive the line.
WhatsApp: Health Rollup, WhatsApp: Quarantine Release
- When: every 5 minutes, and every hour.
- What they do: the first counts each line's recent attempts, errors and replies, pauses a line 15 minutes when errors pass 35%, and restarts the warm-up after 14 idle days. The second releases a quarantined line once it answers a test or its time is up.
- How to stop them: stop the jobs; a quarantined line then stays blocked.
Cleanup
WhatsApp: Cleanup Old Messages, WhatsApp: GC Send Attempts
- When: once a day.
- What they do: delete the finished messages older than Message Retention (WhatsApp settings), and the log of send attempts older than 180 days, or than Message Retention if longer.
- How to stop them: stop the jobs.
WhatsApp: Unpin Inactive Channels
- When: once a day, but off by default.
- What it does: unpins from Discuss the WhatsApp conversations silent for 24 hours.
- How to stop it: it is already off.
When records change
Templates sent on an event
- When: the Trigger of a template with On Event fires.
- What it does: an automation rule named "WhatsApp: " and the template's name sends it to the contact of its Phone Field.
- How to stop it: untick On Event, archive the template, or turn its switch off in the settings.
Opt-out and opt-in words
- When: a contact's whole message is STOP, START or a variant.
- What it does: blacklists the number or lifts it (Consent and blacklist).
- How to stop it: it cannot be switched off.
